This policy describes the Driver HQ iPhone and iPad app and its optional customer account and support service. It is separate from the BuildSprig website’s other services.

What stays on your device

Your local profile, vehicle details, preferences, saved stops, cached results and local activity counters are stored on your device. The activity counters record first run, activation, paywall views and purchases; they have no network upload, advertising identifier or location history. There are no advertising trackers in this version.

Location, place search and optional services

With your permission, the app uses your location for nearby results. Apple Maps receives search terms and search coordinates, which may be precise. Opening directions or restaurant source links uses the destination service. The Driver HQ customer account API does not receive your GPS position or place-search history.

Optional U.S. weather is off by default. Enabling it sends coordinates rounded to two decimal places to the U.S. National Weather Service. Regional fuel information uses the U.S. Energy Information Administration; requests include the selected region and a configured API key when available. These services also receive ordinary network information, such as your IP address.

Weather and fuel providers may retain request metadata, such as IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps and completion status, for service usage analysis, reliability and security. Weather request URLs include the rounded coordinates described above. An EIA API key may be associated with the name and email supplied when registering that key. Provider records have their own retention rules and are not removed by deleting your Driver HQ account. See the National Weather Service privacy policy, EIA privacy and security policy and EIA API terms. The National Weather Service states that its HTTP logs may be preserved indefinitely; we do not set these providers’ retention periods.

Mileage and driver earnings

A trip you start uses precise GPS to estimate distance, including while the screen is locked. iOS shows a location indicator. Pausing or ending the trip stops mileage tracking. GPS reception, device settings, force-quitting and restarts can interrupt recording; the app excludes gaps instead of estimating missing miles. Your device stores distance totals, dates, work categories, manually entered earnings and expenses, and notes. Driver HQ does not store a route trace or upload these records to its customer API. It does not connect to Uber, Lyft or delivery-service accounts. Exporting a CSV creates a file you choose to save or share; its contents and recipients are under your control. Mileage and work records are separate from optional saved-stop iCloud sync and may be included in operating-system device backups. You can also enter manual distance or odometer records and corrections with a reason; the original GPS estimate is kept for corrected GPS trips. Receipt photos and PDF/image files you explicitly choose stay with local trip records. Separate mileage JSON backups include completed trips, amounts, corrections and receipts; they are exported and restored only at your request. Optional weekly goals stay local. Opt-in reminders and Live Activities can show trip purpose, distance and status on the lock screen or Dynamic Island; you can turn them off in Drive → Reminders & lock screen. Offer calculations use the amounts, miles, time and costs you enter locally.

Optional private iCloud sync

Saved-stop sync is off by default. Enabling it uploads saved-stop records, including their coordinates, to your private Apple iCloud database. Turning sync off stops new synchronization and does not erase existing cloud records. Local profiles use separate records. Manage cloud copies through your Apple iCloud controls; contact support if you need assistance. Your online customer account is separate from private iCloud sync.

Optional customer account and support

If you create an online account, our service stores your email, an account identifier, a salted password hash, email-verification status, session and verification/reset records, and the profile details you submit: name, phone, city and vehicle. Support requests store their subject, message, status, replies and timestamps, together with the related support-operation audit records. Do not include payment-card details, passwords or sensitive information in a support message.

We use this information to authenticate you, provide your profile, deliver verification and password-reset codes, respond to support, prevent abuse and provide export and deletion. The service uses DigitalOcean for hosting and scheduled host backups, Cloudflare R2 for encrypted off-server backups, and Resend for transactional email. This website at getdriverhq.com is hosted on DigitalOcean. The existing public pages at driverhq.buildsprig.com are hosted through Cloudflare. Those providers process the information needed to provide their services. Authorized support operators can access account and support records needed to assist you.

Apple services and purchases

Apple processes subscription payments. We do not receive your payment-card details. The app uses StoreKit transaction information to check your entitlement. If you choose Sign in with Apple for a local profile, Apple provides the identifier and profile fields you authorize. Face ID and Touch ID authentication use the operating system; Driver HQ does not receive biometric templates.

The optional assistant uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models when available. Driver HQ does not send assistant prompts to its customer account server or an external AI provider.

Retention and your controls

Your existing trip records and attached receipts remain accessible for free if Pro ends. You can view, save to Files and remove receipts already attached. A subscription lapse does not delete your data; new receipt attachments and the other Pro actions require active Pro access. Basic mileage and trip history stay available. Offer check, new receipt attachments, detailed reports with CSV export, and trip backup export and restore/import are Pro tools. Subscription access does not change who controls your local records.

Local data remains until you delete it or remove the app, subject to any device or iCloud backups you maintain. In Settings → Privacy & Data, “Delete All My Data” removes the current local profile, vehicle, saved-stop and mileage/work data, including its receipts, corrections and weekly goal. It does not delete an online account, cancel an Apple subscription or erase previously uploaded iCloud records.

In Customer Portal, you can export your online profile and support records and delete your online account after confirming your password. Account deletion removes its active account, session, challenge and support records. Deleted data may remain in scheduled host backups for up to seven days before rotation. Encrypted off-server backups normally rotate on a seven-day schedule; failed backup jobs or a recovery hold may delay that rotation. Email delivery records and correspondence you separately send to support are retained according to the relevant provider and support workflow; contact us about access or deletion of these records.

You can revoke location permission in iOS Settings, disable optional weather and sync in Driver HQ, and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account subscription settings. Exported files and messages you share are controlled by you and their recipients.

Security and changes

Online account traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are salted and hashed, session tokens are stored in the device Keychain, and server administration is restricted. No system can guarantee absolute security. We will update this page when the app’s data practices change.
